Olerai Schools Joins Kua Ventures Portfolio

Olerai Schools, a group of schools in Kajiado County, has received financing from Kua Ventures to support its expansion and growth in its mission to be a center of excellence for young learners in Kenya. The learning institution becomes the 25th business to join our growing portfolio of businesses.

Established 40 years ago by Elizabeth Pertet and her husband Simon Pertet, the school has humbly grown from having two pioneering students in kindergarten, to a group of schools with two campuses in Ongata Rongai and Kiserian. The schools provide high quality education from Kindergarten to Junior School under the Competency Based Curriculum with an emphasis on building an all-rounded child. Plans are underway to expand to Senior School by January 2026.

The school upholds Christian values and through their motto, Committed to Excellence, guides learners into becoming young leaders who are driven by the ethos of excellence, discipline, inclusivity, holistic development and environmental stewardship.

Elizabeth says the investment by Kua Ventures will go a long way in enabling the school to achieve its mission through continually raising the bar on standards. Specifically, the investment by Kua Ventures will be channeled to developing a state of the art Astroturf Field to enhance their Sports Academy.

The investment by Kua Ventures in Olerai Schools aligns with global and national development priorities on education. The United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 emphasizes inclusive and equitable quality education particularly among young boys and girls. Locally, the Government of Kenya (GoK) recognizes education as the primary means of sustainable economic development, social mobility, national cohesion and social development.

In 2023, the education sector received Ksh. 628.6 billion (approximately $4 billion) of the national budget, accounting for the highest percentage at 27.4%. The high budgetary allocation for the country’s education sector is in line with the government’s policy on free public primary education which was introduced over 20 years ago. Whereas there have been improvements in student enrollment and literacy rates over the years, the quality of education in the public sector remains a burgeoning concern.

As a learning institution in the private sector, Olerai Schools plays an important role in bridging this gap in the education sector, providing high-quality learning for young boys and girls to complement public sector efforts.

At Kua Ventures, we believe that our partnership with Olerai Schools will help deliver exceptional learning opportunities for the young Kenyan generation while creating employment opportunities for the academic and support staff.
